Michigan Golf Oasis

We had the opportunity to turn a Bloomfield Hills property into a private golf retreat that feels like a mini course right in the backyard. The centerpiece of this project is a 5,800 sq ft putting green designed by Jack Nicklaus, complete with a premium Golden Bear hitting mat — perfect for practice any time of year.

In total, we installed 11,275 sq ft of turf. The putting surface is GB177 (color 301), while GB113 (color 303) was used for the collar/first-cut fringe and GB090 (color 301) for the rough/second-cut areas. The Golden Bear GB175 hitting mat ties it all together, proudly featuring the Nicklaus logo.

Before turf ever went down, our crew carefully mapped the contours and built a performance base engineered for consistent ball roll. Every detail — from stimp to break — was fine-tuned to create a surface that mimics tournament conditions.

As golfers ourselves, we know how much the details matter. Every construction choice changes how a ball reacts, so we put our experience to work to make sure this green not only looks great but also plays true.

The result is a stunning, playable backyard space that’s ready for year-round practice and play. With Nicklaus Design elements and the Golden Bear touch, this project blends form and function for both serious golfers and weekend players.
